sounds, however. With just over one minute left in the
game, the score was 4 – 3. In an attempt to tie up the
game, the goalie was pulled, but two empty net goals
resulted for Elizabeth Forward. Kelsey DeNardo, Chad
Trice, & Jonathan Kostial provided the Moon goals, with
assists coming from AJ Coleman (2), Trevor Handlovitch,
and Jonathan Kostial. In the second game, Moon met
Baldwin, and chalked up an 11 – 0 convincing win. Goals

9-minute mark. A short-handed goal by AJ Coleman, with
just over 3 minutes left in the second period, lit a
fire under the team and there was no looking back.
Final score was 7 – 3. Goals came from: AJ Coleman
(4), Jonathan Kostial (2) and Kelsey DeNardo (1).

Moon Wins Against State
College 9 - 3
Moon’s first game of the post-season
was played on Tuesday, March 11. Moon traveled to State
College for the 6:00 pm start and made the long trip
worthwhile, with a convincing 9 – 3 win. State College
started the scoring first, but Chad Trice used a power
play opportunity to get Moon on the scoreboard.
Assisting on the play were Austin Seibert and AJ
Coleman. Just one minute later, Eric Dripps poked one
in, with assists going to Stephanie Walkom and AJ. At
the end of the first, it was 2 – 1 for Moon. AJ was the
first one to score in the second period, assisted by
Chad and goalie, Eric Owen. State College came back
with two more goals and the game was all tied up again.
Thirty seconds later, a pass from Josh Bioni to Austin,
put Moon ahead and they never looked back. The third
period was all Moon, with five more goals finding their
way into the State College net. It was truly a team
effort, with goals spread out amongst the team. The
first goal in the third came from Austin, assisted by AJ
and Kelsey DeNardo. Their goalie didn’t have a chance.
The next goal was an unassisted zinger slap shot from AJ,
which left the goalie’s hand stinging. Goals seven and
eight were also unassisted goals from our outstanding
girls on the team…Stephanie and Kelsey. And the final
goal of the night went to Koby Uhrig from Chad and
Trevor Handlovitch.
Moon Loses to West
Allegheny 5 – 4
On March 3, the Moon Freshman Hockey
Team lost a hard fought battle to the first place West

the night, another goal by AJ, assisted by Brian
Schroeder and Austin Seibert, made the score 2 – 0 for
Moon. Two quick goals by West Allegheny finished the
period at a 2 – 2 tie. West A started the scoring in
the second period, with two goals, before Chad Trice
found the net on assists from Josh Kelly and AJ. Moon
was down by one goal going into the third, but early in
the period, Kelsey DeNardo was in perfect position for a
perfect pass from AJ, to tie the game at 4. With just 4
minutes left in the game, our West A friends scored
their 5th goal of the game. Moon wasn’t able
to respond and the game ended in a 5 – 4 loss for the

score was 6 – 2 in Moon’s favor. Moon opened the
scoring at the 11:40 mark of the third period, when
Jonathan put the puck on the stick of Koby Uhrig to give
Koby his 4th goal of the season. Just 46
seconds later, number 46, Chad Trice scored on a power
play opportunity from AJ and Jonathan, which completed
the scoring for Moon. Center came back with 2 goals to
close out the period, but the Tigers claimed victory
with an 8 – 4 final score.
